A premium yet practical carbon gravel bike with outstanding value
As gravel riding has evolved, bikes have split into two categories: ultra-focused race machines and heavy expedition rigs. The Merida Silex remains dedicated to the road less travelled — prioritising confidence, comfort and versatility over outright race aggression.
The Silex 4000 is built around Merida’s CF2 carbon gravel frame, designed from the ground up using modern MTB-inspired geometry. A longer top tube, taller head tube and shorter stem deliver stable, confidence-inspiring handling on loose terrain while maintaining efficiency on tarmac.
This second-generation Silex frame features a revised fork design, allowing riders to switch to a suspension fork without altering geometry — ideal for future upgrades or more technical adventures.
Equipped with Shimano’s highly acclaimed GRX 2×10 groupset, the Silex 4000 offers smooth shifting and powerful braking in all conditions. The wide-range 46/30 chainset paired with an 11-36 cassette makes steep climbs, long days and loaded bikepacking effortless.
Carbon models also benefit from Merida Disc Cooler technology, with CNC-machined aluminium fins that reduce brake temperatures by up to 35% — particularly valuable when descending fully loaded.
Add in Reynolds G30 carbon wheels, huge tyre clearance, five bottle mounts, internal dropper routing and dynamo compatibility, and the Silex 4000 becomes a genuinely do-everything carbon gravel bike.
